studying for boards and had 3 different nephritic/nephrotic LM images on my NBME practice test. This was very helpful, thanks a bunch!
well no, what you find in SLe are inmunocomplexes. IgA nephropathy is more likely related t ohepatic damage or aa heredirary mutation of the HLA family of genes wich ''regulate'' (to say somethin') the function of the T limphocytes wiche regulate B lymphocites which become plasma cells wich secrete inmunoglobulins. so the mutation causes an excesive secretion of IgA and further Renal (glomerular) deposit
Interesting and informative... Thanks!
I was diagnosed with SLE back in 2005, but never realized how it really effected the kidney. This is a great video. I had no idea about the histopathology of SLE. I was lucky. I didn't have to be put on dialysis, but had to be put on chemo to slow my immune system down. Thank you for posting this!
O.o oh wow i absolutly understodw none of that XD *googles lupus*
It's not lupus.
I feel a little smarter than I did 3 minutes ago - thanks again from a happy medical student!
Great stuff, I'm studying for my boards and your right on the money with this path. Thanks

WOW this very informative. I love it.REcently, my husband had kidney biopsy and it says, IgA nephropathy - is this finding found in SLE also?
can you teach how to treat lupus i was diagnosed with kidney biopsy and they find out that i have lupus last october.
This is great! Thank you! Sheila Shaw lives with Lupus, which knocked out her kidney function. She teaches all about taking control of your life despite living with chronic illness. I have talked with so many Lupus patients who all claim that their Lupus flared out at the most stressful point in their lives. This was Sheila's case as well. In my personal studies, it seems to be that keeping stress to a minimum would help with preventing it....Thank you for this video!
Thank you for posting this video. I had a kidney biopsy done a few years ago and this helped me "see" what the doctors explained to me. I was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis following the biopsy.
@marigoldsugarplum Lupus is caused by an overactive immune system. Your immune system think your healthy tissue is foreign. So it attacks healthy tissue in your body. It can attack any organ or part of your body. Mine attacked my blood, kidneys and joints. Later on it could attack somewhere else. So in order to get it to stop attacking that part of the body they need to suppress it.

I'm a diabetic (type 1) and have had it for 37 years. I was just diagnosed with SLE but as yet haven't had any symptoms. Not sure what this means, will there be some sort of flare up at some point?
To suppress the immune system means to make it not work good. I'd be vulnerable. What's the root of lupus. That needs to get cleared up then it will be better. I already have asthma, arthritas for years, epilepsy, hypthyroidism,
osteoporosis, gum disease that's in my family & me, septo optic dysplasia, depression, anxiety, and.. I better stop now. Hee I'm running out of room fast. I'm 36 and I'm tired of getting new stuff every year. I was born with septo optic dysplasia it effects alot!
I would rate this video 10 stars possible.
